No one who has an STD intended to get it.
The Center for Disease Control estimates that nearly 20 million new sexually transmitted infections occur every year in this country, half among young people ages 15–24. Many STD's have no symptoms for weeks or even months after contracting the disease, and by the time you find out, you may have already infected anyone you've had sexual contact with. Left untreated, STD's can have long-term serious physical complications.
